Author Guidelines

Instructions to Authors

The Journal (LAGJMA) is a peer review journal that publishes original research in all areas of mathematics and statistics and their applications in several other fields. Manuscripts that has not been submitted elsewhere with strong evidence of scholarship and significance are of interest. Submission of manuscript is strictly online. Authors are encouraged to follow the submission guidelines below:

Authors guidelines

Manuscripts submitted to this Journal (LAGJMA) are expected to be original research and high level of scientific writing. It is recommended that the manuscripts should be written in clear and simple English using Microsoft word/Latex format.

Order of Manuscript

The manuscript is expected to be presented in the following order:

Title page

The title page should contain the title of the contributions, the full names and address of the authors. The full postal address of the authors and the corresponding author must be well indicated. The title of the research must not be more than 21 words.

Abstract

All manuscripts must include a brief abstract which should not be more than 250 words. The abstract is expected to describe the key features of the manuscript. The scope, hypothesis, rationale, main results and numerical experiments are sequentially reported in the abstract. Please avoid the citing of previously published articles in your abstract.

Keywords

Keywords related to the article using the 2010 mathematics subject classification must be included in your manuscript.

Materials and methods

This section includes the introduction, theoretical procedures and the details of the material and procedures needed to be informed and prepared to undertake the research. It is expected that a careful understanding of this part will allow a reader reproduce the main results in this manuscript.

Equations should be numbered based on the section in which they appear in the text, i.e. Equation (2.14) appear in section 2 and (4.12) appear in section 4, respectively. Similarly, Tables, Figures, Algorithms and charts are expected to be well captioned and numbered according the section it appears. On the other hand, citing of relevant literatures should be by authors surnames and year, for example, “Ehigie and Okunuga (2015) presented a new algorithm for the numerical solution of singular nonlinear differential equation……..”, or “Adamu (2020) presented a multi-objective flow-shop model……..”, for multiple authors and single author, respectively.

Result

This section is expected to give a detail presentation of the scientific theories and demonstration of strong scientific findings. Results are expected to be presented in logical sequence, either as proofs in text or as tables and figures involving scientific research that involves numerical values. Authors are encouraged to use figures to reduce the repetition of related tables. All tables, charts, statistical analysis, numerical experiments, and calculations should be presented in this section.

Discussion

All results presented must be discussed in clear and concise way to enable readers understand the new theories, benefit and the significance of the results presented. A fair comparison of scientific results with existing theories should be well juxtaposed and highlighted such that sources of errors, performance, and advancement should be well highlighted and presented. Authors are encouraged to propose Future research, suggestion and limitations in the present research.

Conclusion

It is expected that some final concluding remarks be given and the summary of findings and main contribution to the body of knowledge should be emphasized.

Acknowledgement

The source of financial support must be acknowledged.

References

References should be presented in alphabetical order. Authors are expected to ensure that relevant reference materials are well cited so as to avoid copyright infringements. Only published and “In Press” references should be cited. Reference should be carefully listed in the References section as in the following cases:

After Acceptance

Upon acceptance, the Journal (LAGJMA) encourages authors to submit their final draft in LaTeX. The Editor-in-Chief will send the gallery proof for verification and upon confirmation, the final draft will be published in the Journal website and electronic copies will be sent to all the authors.

Publication ethics

The Journal (LAGJMA) aims to adhere to the principles outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and supports the application of ethical standards throughout the scholarly publishing community.

    1. Article assessment

All manuscripts are subject to blind peer review and are expected to meet standards of academic excellence. If approved by the editor, submissions will be considered by peer reviewers, whose identities will remain anonymous to the authors.

    1. Plagiarism

Authors must not use the words, figures, or ideas of others without attribution. All sources must be cited at the point they are used, and reuse of wording must be limited and be attributed or quoted in the text. The Journal (LAGJMA) reserves the right to use software to detect submissions that overlap with published and submitted manuscripts.

Manuscripts that are found to have been plagiarized from a manuscript by other authors will be rejected and the authors may incur sanctions. Any published articles may need to be corrected or retracted.

    1. Redundant publication

Manuscripts submitted to the Journal must be original and previously unpublished, must not be submitted elsewhere while under consideration and must be withdrawn before being submitted elsewhere. Articles based on content previously made public only on a preprint server, institutional repository, or in a thesis will be considered. Authors whose articles are found to have been simultaneously submitted elsewhere may incur sanctions.

Previously published work by the authors, or work that is currently under review, used as basis for a submitted manuscript must be cited and the authors must indicate how their submitted manuscript differs from their previous work.

    1. Citation manipulation

Authors should only cite relevant works that add value to the article. Authors whose submitted manuscripts are found to include citations whose primary purpose is to increase the number of citations to a given author’s work, or to articles published in a given journal, may incur sanctions.

Editors and reviewers must not ask authors to include references merely to increase citations to their own or an associate’s work, to the journal, or to another journal they are associated with.

    1. Fabrication and falsification

The Journal (LAGJMA) reserves the right to retract or reject articles found to contain fabricated or falsified results, including the manipulation of images. Authors of such submissions may also incur sanctions.

    1. Authorship

All listed authors must have made a significant scientific contribution to the research in the manuscript, approved its claims, and agreed to be an author. Everyone who made a significant scientific contribution to a submission must be listed. Author contributions may be described at the end of the submission. Changes in authorship must be declared to the journal and agreed to by all authors. Anyone who contributed to the research or manuscript preparation, but is not an author, should be acknowledged with their permission. Submissions by anyone other than one of the authors will not be considered.

    1. Conflicts of interest

Conflicts of interest (also known as ‘competing interests’) occur when issues outside research could be reasonably perceived to affect the neutrality or objectivity of the work or its assessment. If unsure, declare a potential interest or discuss with the editorial office. Undeclared interests may result to rejection of the submission, reassessment of the article, corrigendum publication, or retraction, as the case may be.

While the declaring all possible competing interests may not stop work from being published or prevent someone from being involved in the review process, it allows others to make informed decisions about the work and its review process.

Conflicts may be financial, institutional, personal, ideological, academic, or related to intellectual property.

Authors' Conflicts of interest

Authors must declare all potential interests in a ‘Conflicts of interest’ section, which should explain why the interest may be a conflict. If there are none, the authors could state “The author(s) declare(s) that there are no conflicts of interest regarding the publication of this paper.” Submitting authors are responsible for coauthors declaring their interests.

Current or recent funding (including article processing charges) and other payments, goods or services that might influence the work, must be declared in the ‘Funding Statement’ whether it presents a conflict or not.

Editors and Reviewers

Editors and reviewers should decline to be involved with a submission when they feel unable to be objective. Reviewers must confidentially declare any interest to the editor.

Sanctions

The Journal (LAGJMA) may apply the following sanctions if one of the journal’s publication ethics policies is breached: (i) rejection of the manuscript; (ii) rejection of any other manuscripts submitted by the author(s); (iii) prohibiting the authors from submitting for 1 year; (iv) prohibition from acting as an editor or reviewer. Additional sanctions for severe ethical violations may apply.

    1. Corrections and Retractions

When errors are identified in published articles, the editor-in-chief will consider what action is required and may consult the editors and the authors’ institution(s). Errors by the authors may be corrected by a corrigendum and errors by the publisher by an erratum. Errors that significantly affect the conclusions of an article may require retraction.
